Article name
[edit]The railroad is actually spelled without the comma. See [1], [2] and [3] for three different public timetables published by the railroad. I had originally named this article with a comma but found that the correct name is without the comma. slambo 00:04, September 12, 2005 (UTC)
- I've moved the article to Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad using the correct spelling without comma. I've created redirects from the old name as well as other variants (the railroad was known as a Railway for a time). — JonRoma 22:24, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
CTA box
[edit]On the Template talk:CTA page, we've been discussing the CTA box and it's appearance on this page. This page doesn't even mention the el, except to say that the CTA bought part of the track. Is there more to the involvement with the CTA than is mentioned here that might help me understand why the CTA box should be on this page? Tedernst 19:27, 8 October 2005 (UTC)
- Template talk:CTA is replaced by Template talk:Chicago L Peter Horn User talk 14:15, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
Station stops?
[edit]Would a list of stations, such as those on the South Shore Line make this article too long? ---------User:DanTD (talk) 18:38, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
- Probably, and unless we have articles on the stations themselves there's not much point. A map might be more useful. Mackensen (talk) 19:19, 26 July 2015 (UTC)
- A list of station stops would make this article HUGE. There was an extensive number of stops (particularly on the shore line and "main line") from the early days that were abandoned. The South Shore list is, in fact, an abridged list, only mentioning the current stops. I recently edited the map to include those stops that had survived into the NICTD era but were later abandoned. You can see a more comprehensive map with all the stops I could identify here.
- The call for a map is extremely timely as I've been putting the finishing touches on this puppy. Again, this excludes many local stops that were abandoned "early" on. There are still some things that need tweaking. To get an idea on scope of the number of local stops, you can view this. Obviously it is nowhere near "complete." - If that's the case, then skip it. I won't even waste my time requesting a separate station list. Looking forward to LOB's map now. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 16:09, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
A North Shore Line car in RICHMOND HILL, QUEENS!
[edit]Guess what I found (http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/odds_ends.htm http://www.trainsarefun.com/lirr/odds_ends/CNS&M-411RichmondHill041964.jpg). Yes, a Chicago-area interurban has been closer to my neck of the woods. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 06:26, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
Images and the system map
[edit]I am currently working on a major re-write of this article, utilizing a multitude of primary and secondary sources I have amassed over the years. I believe that the complete system map that the article has is an excellent feature, however due to its length it displaces several images when it is open/expanded. Is there any way to keep images from being displaced when the map is open, or will it always need to be closed in order for them to remain in their proper location? --CA&E460 (talk) 06:22, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Total Overhaul (December 2017)
[edit]Hello again. This article is still in dire need of a re-write, so I am currently working on one that can be accessed HERE. Everything will be cited meticulously and properly. --CA&E460 (talk) 02:18, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
